Meet Raylen Williams, LMT

My love for movement led me to my first yoga class in 2011. Towards the end of the class, I was shocked to discover how much I struggled during the final resting pose (savasana). Doing "nothing" was hard for me! Humbled by this awareness, I attended a yoga teacher training (YTT) program eager to learn more. One of my biggest takeaways from YTT was developing a daily meditation practice. I began to feel the benefits of cultivating stillness in addition to my movement practice; so in 2014, I attended my first meditation teacher training.

A few years later, suppressed memories of trauma started to emerge. I sought help immediately.  I was suffering tremendously with complex PTSD and severe dissociation. Working with many layers of support, I explored (and continue to explore) ways of learning how to safely inhabit my body, tend to what is arising with compassionate presence, and attune to its innate wisdom for the possibility of living with more ease. I found certain forms of bodywork to be beneficial in my process, which led me to becoming a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner and Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in Craniosacral Work and Myofascial Release.

I feel grateful for all my teachers, mentors, and beings in my field of care and hope that offering this work serves as an opportunity to pay it forward. Education

My vocation is informed by on-going training in Visionary Craniosacral Work through the Milne Institute, John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach®, and Phoenix Rising School of Yoga Therapy. I have completed three different meditation teacher trainings from Empowered Yoga, The Buddhist Studies Institute, and Dharma Moon-Tibet House as well as Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness Teacher Training with David Treleaven. My yoga background includes completing a 200-hour teacher training with Empowered Yoga, LifeForce Yoga practitioner level 1 certification, foundations of Svaroopa Yoga, Groovy Kids Yoga, and more. In addition, I received my Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Delaware and completed a 600-hour massage therapist program with Academy of Massage and Bodywork in Delaware. However, much of what I have learned comes from my own personal daily sadhana (spiritual practice) and a continuous exploration of what it truly means to be human.
